(C) GPS for Construction

This is the GPS for Construction Technology. These standards will replace the QCCs. Teaching the state-approved Contren curriculum to designed standards and maintaining an Industry Accredited program will help in assuring compliance with these state standards. To view the standards Cick Here.

(D) Current Design for Construction Tech Programs

This is the state-approved lab design and tool and equipment list for new programs. This is also a model for existing programs. This information, if used, will aid a program in complying with Industry Accreditation Standards. Click link to see the information. Lab Design. Tool/Equipment List.

(E) Masonry Tool Illustrations

These are photos of labs that can be used for ideas as you set up or change your exisiting lab. These photos follow the concepts of the DOE lab design but are not necessarily exact solutions. These are for concept. To access these photos Click Here.

(H) Industry Pre-employment Practice Test

This is the same pre-employment test that a potential new employee will be required to take before they will be employed by Georgia Power. Many of the concepts we are already teaching. To access this Click Here. The username to enter is "southern" and the password is "testing."

This is the PowerPoint presentation used on March 25, 2008 used with the training for the new construction GPS. It contains all of the standards as well as the corresponding links. This site has has several of the more common wiring diagrams for switch and outlet circuits. It also has text type instructions as well. It will be a great resource! Check it out.

(G) Circuit Construction Tool

Here is a great link to help students see how electrons flow, circuits are connected and how they can practice a very simple circuit setup.  Some great information is automatically calculated like voltage drop, amps & resistance when connected properly. To connect to the site Click Here.

(H) Stair & Rafter Layout Exercise

1) Take a white piece of masonite hardboard (4x8 sheet should work great). Cut it into strips the same size as a 2x12 and 2x8
2) Once you go over the steps to lay out a rafter or stair stringer, the students can practice over and over with dry erase markers and framing squares. 
3) For the grade: just check the work before they erase it.

It's simple, can be re-used, and saves materials. Students can race to see who can calculate and layout the fastest.
